The Crown Prince today received a formal written message from His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit of the Republic of South Sudan. The message was delivered to Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan during his meeting with South Sudan’s Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Monday Semaya Kumba, in Riyadh on Wednesday.
During the meeting, held at the royal palace, Advisor Gatluak conveyed the warm greetings and well wishes of President Kiir to the Crown Prince, alongside a message focusing on strengthening the longstanding relations between South Sudan and the Kingdom. The written communication emphasized continued cooperation in various fields of mutual interest including peacebuilding, regional stability, and economic partnership across East Africa.
The Crown Prince, in turn, extended his appreciation to President Kiir and the South Sudanese leadership for their ongoing efforts to advance national reconciliation and peace. He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting South Sudan’s development and regional integration initiatives. Hon. Tut Gatluak also briefed the Crown Prince on recent developments in South Sudan, particularly progress in implementing the peace agreement and fostering social cohesion among communities. The meeting reflected shared aspirations for stability and prosperity throughout the region. The exchange of messages further underscores the growing diplomatic engagement between South Sudan and the Kingdom, laying groundwork for expanded collaboration in security cooperation, investment, and humanitarian support.
Saudi Arabia and South Sudan have maintained growing diplomatic ties since South Sudan’s independence in 2011, marked by high-level exchanges focused on economic investment, refugee support, and regional peace efforts in East Africa. These relations have deepened through Saudi aid to South Sudanese humanitarian needs and shared interests in countering extremism and fostering stability. Recent visits by South Sudanese officials to Riyadh underscore this momentum.
