Savanna Radio Sport Team…

The Seattle Seahawks captured their second Lombardi Trophy with a suffocating defensive performance and an efficient, mistake‑free offense in a 29–13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60. Super Bowl 60 took place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, where Seattle faced a resurgent New England team led by young quarterback Drake Maye. The Seahawks entered the game as the NFC’s top seed after a 14–3 regular season and a dominant playoff run through the 49ers and Rams, reinforcing their status as one of the league’s most complete teams.

Defense writes the story

From the opening series, Seattle’s defense set the tone by collapsing the pocket and taking away New England’s rhythm in the passing game. Maye was harassed all night, sacked six to seven times depending on the tally, and intercepted multiple times, as Seattle’s front combined relentless pressure with tight coverage downfield. Edge rushers Derick Hall and Byron Murphy II each recorded two sacks, while the unit held the Patriots to just 51 total yards and four first downs by halftime, one of the leanest first‑half outputs in Super Bowl history.

The defining defensive moment came late, when linebacker Uchenna Nwosu jumped a pass and returned it roughly 44–45 yards for a touchdown, effectively sealing the game and turning a dominant night into a historic one. Julian Love added another interception, and Murphy pounced on a crucial fumble after Hall stripped Maye, underscoring how every level of the Seahawks’ defense had a hand in the win.

Darnold, Walker and a patient offense

On the other side of the ball, Seattle’s game plan emphasized patience and ball security over offensive fireworks. Quarterback Sam Darnold delivered exactly what was required: 19 completions on 38 attempts for 202 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, numbers that were modest but perfectly suited to a game controlled by the defense. His signature throw came early in the fourth quarter, when he found tight end A.J. Barner wide open on a 16‑yard post route for the game’s first touchdown, pushing the lead to 19–0 and putting the Patriots in desperation mode.

Running back Kenneth Walker III provided the offensive backbone, grinding out 135 rushing yards on 27 carries and repeatedly moving the chains against a tiring New England front. Kicker Jason Myers added crucial points throughout the night, hitting five field goals and setting a Super Bowl record in the process, as Seattle built an advantage methodically before finally breaking the game open.

Patriots’ late push falls short

New England’s offense, explosive for much of the regular season, struggled to adjust to Seattle’s pressure packages and disguised coverages. Maye eventually connected on a pair of fourth‑quarter touchdown passes, including strikes to Mack Hollins and Rhamondre Stevenson, but both scores came with the Patriots already trailing by multiple possessions. A failed two‑point attempt after one of those touchdowns kept the deficit at 29–13, and any hope of a miracle comeback vanished after Nwosu’s pick‑six. Despite the late touchdowns, New England never truly threatened; the game was defined more by Seahawks sacks, negative plays, and stalled drives than by any sustained Patriots success.

Legacy of a second title

With the victory, Seattle claimed its second Super Bowl championship and its first since demolishing the Denver Broncos to cap the 2013 season, finally exorcising the ghosts of the heartbreaking Super Bowl XLIX loss to New England in 2015. Head coach Mike Macdonald, in just his second year at the helm, cemented his reputation as a defensive mastermind by constructing a unit capable of dominating the league’s best on the biggest stage. This title does more than add another banner to Lumen Field; it repositions the Seahawks at the center of the NFL’s power structure. With a young, ferocious defense, a proven coaching staff, and an offense comfortable playing complementary football, Seattle leaves Santa Clara not only as Super Bowl champions, but as a franchise poised to contend for years to come.
